Matt Cutts on 'Trust' and 'Authority'

Matt Cutts the Head of Web Spam at Google and the public face of SEO for Google has been putting out a number of videos on various Search related issues. He had a brief spell where he was taking questions on Google Moderator. I did manage to get one of my questions in out of the 194 that made it in. My question like several others were regarding how Google is treating social media sites. This was not answered directly but he did answer a question on ‘brands’ and how they are treated. Matt explained that there was a change done by ‘Vince’ thus it has been christened the Vince Change. You can see his response here. What is interesting is the use of two words which we will probably hear more and more from Google. That is ‘trust’ and ‘authority’. It would appear that the Vince Change is trying to bring into the algorithm something more than the value of an incoming links PageRank.
