Google announced some new search features at its Searchology 2009 event a few days ago. Google has previous Searchology events to introduce Universal Search and Personalised Search. This year Google annonced some new search features.
Google Marissa Mayer from Google who did the presentation referred to this as a handy “toolbelt” in order to refine search results in several different ways. You can now do a search and look above the search results for a “Show options…” link. Click on that to get a number of ways of refining your search of useful ways to power search. You can see web results with images or one that I found very useful was to search by time frame.There are also options fo searching by genre such as forums and reviews. You can request longer snippets, on a timeline or explore more related search queries. One thing they have added that has been lots of fun to play with is the Wonder Wheel. I have to say I am not sure how useful it is but it is was fun!
