Google Insight

One of the highlights of an otherwise quiet month was the launch by Google of Google Insight. It is a new interface for Google’s search data and is aimed at search volumes.

Some of the things you Insight will tell you are:

•    search volume by keyword and by market
•    geographical distribution on a graphically
•    top searches related to your initial search queries
•    rising searches - fast growing, searches related to your initial queries
•    the seasonality of search trends
•    whether a keyword's search volume is increasing or decreasing (annual growth trends)

This along with Google Trends,  Google Keyword tool and, of course, Google Analytics & Google Webmaster is giving people better information than ever on what internet users are searching for. It allows a richer more tailored array of terms and cross searches to be entered and gives the data broken down by region. It also features a related search function which no doubt online advertisers will find invaluable in selecting the right keywords to target their specific audience. It is another member of what is becoming an indispensible array of analysis tools.
